Overview

LeitnerBox Companion is a browser extension designed to help you quickly capture knowledge from the web directly to your personal LeitnerBox application. We are committed to your privacy and believe your data belongs solely to you.

What Data We Collect & How It's Used

• API Key: We store your LeitnerBox API key securely in your browser's local storage (`chrome.storage.local`). It is only transmitted securely to your configured LeitnerBox server to authenticate requests.
• Selected Text & Source URLs: When you actively select text on a webpage or PDF and choose to create a flashcard, the extension collects the highlighted text and the current page URL. This data is transmitted directly and securely to your personal LeitnerBox server to populate your flashcards.
• Box Preferences: We remember the last Box you saved a card to locally in your browser to save you time.

Third-Party Services

This extension does not use any third-party services, analytics trackers, telemetry, or advertising networks. Your data goes exclusively from your browser directly to your LeitnerBox application server.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share any of your data with any third parties under any circumstances.

Data Retention

The extension itself retains your API key and Box preference locally on your device until you uninstall the extension. The flashcards you create are retained on your LeitnerBox server according to your own management preferences.
